Jericoacoara

Discover

A true preserved natural paradise

There is a lot to do in Jericoacoara, one of the best destinations in Ceará and Brazil! Beaches, dunes, good inns and hotels, in addition to a wonderful climate, attract more and more tourists.

About Vila de Jericoacoara
Jericoacoara, better known only as “Jeri”, is one of the northeastern destinations that has become a sensation among travelers in recent decades. The village, located about 300 km from Fortaleza, more precisely in the city of Jijoca de Jericoacoara, is a peaceful place, with sandy streets and bucolic scenery — ideal for those who want to rest and renew their energy!

Where is Jericoacoara?
Jericoacoara is a village that is part of Jijoca de Jericoacoara, in Ceará, Northeastern Brazil. The village is about 300 km from Fortaleza, on the west coast of the state and is about 580 km from São Luís, in Maranhão.

When to go to Jericoacoara
Jericoacoara is a destination to visit all year round. Between the second half of December and Carnival, the village tends to get more tourists, especially during New Year’s Eve, a very coveted time in this part of the country.

In the first half of the year, the amount of rain is greater, and it is they that make the lakes in the region become full – it does not mean, however, that at this time it rains all day, on the contrary, you can still enjoy good days of Sun and hot.

The second half is drier and for those who want to sail, August is the best month, with historical averages of strong winds. Regardless of the time of year, it’s good to know that Jericoacoara is a popular destination on weekends and holidays

What to do in Jericoacoara
Vila de Jericoacoara is located on the seafront and the beach is one of its main attractions. The lakes, formed by rain and with crystal clear water, are also highlights of the region. Tours that take you to the East and West side of the village allow you to easily get to know the entire area.

Jericoacoara beaches (and lagoons)
Enjoying the beaches and lagoons are among the main attractions in Jeri. In the Northeast, in cities where this is possible, many people prefer to enjoy the day enjoying a dip in lagoons rather than in the sea and many of these lagoons have a great structure.

To know before you go:
– The village of Jericoacoara is a very simple place, so don’t expect major technological advances from the place. There are no banks or ATMs in the village.

– Take light clothes in your suitcase, it’s hot all year round in Jeri. Cool clothing, just light, to protect you from the wind.

– Use and abuse sunscreen and be extra careful when visiting the region. As it is very windy in Jericoacoara and its surroundings, people often do not feel the sun burning. Sun protection shirts are also a good idea, especially for buggy rides or outdoor exercises.
